Meet Louis Prevosti, MD, FACS
Dr. Louis Prevosti is a board-certified surgeon with over three decades of experience in cardiothoracic surgery and vein care. After earning his medical degree from Albany Medical College, he completed his general surgery residency at Cornell Medical College–New York Presbyterian Hospital and served as a Guest Researcher at the National Institutes of Health. He went on to complete his thoracic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic, one of the most prestigious heart programs in the country.
In 1991, Dr. Prevosti began practicing cardiothoracic surgery in Atlanta, performing over 5,000 open-heart operations and 1,000 thoracic operations during his tenure at Piedmont and St. Joseph’s Hospitals. He also served in several leadership roles at Piedmont, including Acting Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Director of the Cardiovascular ICU and Telemetry Unit, and Chairman of the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.
In 2010, Dr. Prevosti shifted his focus to the outpatient treatment of varicose veins, venous insufficiency, and venous disorders. He founded Vein Atlanta and grew it into one of the largest and most respected vein practices in the country. Over the following decade, he performed more than 20,000 vein procedures and oversaw thousands more.
After Vein Atlanta was acquired in 2021 by a national vein company, Dr. Prevosti briefly remained in a leadership role. However, he soon realized his passion lay in personal, independent patient care rather than corporate medicine.
In 2025, he launched Prevosti Vein Center as a return to private practice with a renewed focus on personalized, patient-centered care. Today, Dr. Prevosti remains committed to providing advanced vein treatments in a professional, welcoming environment built on experience and compassion.
